Test (G1)

Separationofpowers did not disappoint us as the Super Screener top win and top board hitter pick though Mia Mischief, the Super Screener’s 2nd choice was not going to let her win this without a stretch-battle. Both of these fillies were clearly better than the rest though Separationofpowers stablemate, Alter Moon, ran a good effort and will improve in her next outing.  Here’s what the Super Screener had to say about the top two picks:

Kelly’s Humor, the Super Screener Top Long Shot play to use “under” rallied into the swift pace to clunk up for 3rd completing the Trifecta.

The Super Screener suggested $15 Exacta wager cashed for a couple of hundred dollars.

WV Derby (G3)

The Super Screener Top Win and Top Value pick once again came through on this Saturday as   Mr Freeze took command of this field early controlling the modest pace projected and dispensed of his rivals with authority winning by 8 lengths and at solid odds of 6-1.

Adding further credence to the modest pace that was in play, the first three finishers ran around the track in the same order resulting in this merry-go-round outcome.

“This year’s renewal of the G3 WV Derby presents a handicapping challenge as you can make a win case for most of the horses in the field.  The pace set up doesn’t help either as there are no certified early energy distribution types in the field though there are several “middle” types so there should be solid pressure. #8 Mr. Freeze will find the pace to his liking as he’ll actually be able to pull back from the fractions he contested last time as he presses throughout here. He is also very lightly raced and has more upside than most of the contenders here who have already logged 8 or 9 races. He is the only horse to have won his debut and then follow that up with a win while stretching out to a route and facing tougher…that is a very significant screening criterion for this race type.  He really looked to be the winner of that last race as he had to hesitate some in the stretch run while waiting for room before rallying late — but too late to catch #6 High North. He’ll handle the extra 1/2 furlong continuing his form cycle ascent and will be hard to get by nearing the wire.”

In addition to what was cited in the analysis above, note that Mr Freeze, as a lightly raced 3 year-old, was expected to improve again continuing that forward ascent in his form cycle as indicated by the red arrow.  The numbers highlighted in green show how balanced his distribution of energy is which always bodes well for continued advancements in distance. The double 7’s highlighted in yellow show the average winning distance of his sire and dam.  Anything over “7” indicates a high probability that the horse can get these longer routes.

The two Super Screener suggested Trifecta wagers cashed for a total return of over $265.

Yellow Ribbon (G2)

Make it three in a row for the Super Screener Top Win pick getting the job done with another dominant victory. Cambodia returned from the East and conquered her overmatched West Coast-based rivals and the Arlington Park shipper, Hallie Belle, who ran a sharp 4th.

Our Top Value play, Sophie P also clicked and redeemed herself with a late closing effort that got her up for third at juicy odds of 14-1.

Here’s what the Super Screener had to say about each of these horses prior to the race:

The suggested Super Screener suggest Exacta and Superfecta wager cashed for $175.

Whitney (G1)

We tried to beat Diversify but when the torrential rains came delaying the race by an hour, the sloppy sealed surface was exactly what Diversify would thrive on and he just took it to this field never looking back. One bit of redemption for us is that we recommended using Discreet Lover at monster odds under Diversify and others you liked in the Exacta and Trifecta.  As the second longest shot on the board, he closed well clear of the rest of the field easily taking third and just missing 2nd place at 38-1. That sparked a $1 Trifecta pay off of about $100 which wasn’t bad considering the two favorites finished 1-2.

While Del Mar and Saratoga will continue with Graded Stakes action this coming weekend the spotlight clearly turns to Arlington Park for the G1 Arlington Million supported by the G1 Beverly D and G1 Secretariat. Full fields of contentious racing will rule the day and you won’t want to miss a single moment of it!  Also, don’t forget, the Lure and Waya stakes races that were cancelled on Saturday will be run this coming weekend so we’ll have those races ready for you as well.

Until this weekend, Go Fast and Win!
