Preakness Upset from the Cloud

Classic Empire couldn’t miss last year as a juvenile, but this year he can’t catch a break.  Julien Leparoux did his job by not letting Always Dreaming get away and that pair dueled throughout after Conquest Mo Money refused to play that role.  That cost Classic Empire the race in the end… and as the least tired horse down the stretch, Cloud Computing, got his head out in front at the wire after sitting the perfect stalking trip behind the duelers.

Track conditions had changed throughout the day, starting at Sloppy, moving to Muddy and then to Good and finally Fast in time for the Preakness, though there was still plenty of moisture in that dirt.  It looked like horses coming from off the pace were increasingly becoming more successful as the track conditions improved.

As you know, we like to get the Preakness book out the Thursday before the Preakness, complete with wagers, to provide subscribers with plenty of time to handicap.  As Saturday morning arrived and the track condition was known, combined with compiling the final training reports and finalizing pace analysis, it was clear that Cloud Computing needed to move up in the rankings.
Analysis showed he would prefer better than anyone in the field any surface containing moisture in it.  Reports on the ground indicated that he was jumping out of his skin the last two days leading up to the race.  In addition, with Royal Mo out and Conquest Mo Money drawing the 10 hole, more and more talk indicated that connections of Classic Empire were going to sit on Always Dreaming closely, “not letting him out of our sight”.  That meant that things could get a bit speedier up front and, in our analysis, the only other horse we thought would sit behind the speed was Cloud Computing (in fact the projected pace scenario was for Conquest Mo Money to go to the lead with Always Dreaming sitting just off that one in close range and Cloud Computing and Classic Empire running as a pair behind those two).  In the end, Cloud Computing projected to get a perfect trip on a surface he would relish.

This prompted us to send to a note to subscribers to move Cloud Computing up in your wagers to cover in 2nd especially and some in first (even though New Shooters have it tough in trying to win this race) over Always Dreaming and Classic Empire.  So glad we provided that update, as a bunch of you heeded that advice and cashed in on the terrific $2 Exacta Cloud Computing over Classic Empire payoff of nearly $100!

Did You cash? Let us know! Mail@superscreener.com

Now it is on to the Belmont Stakes three weeks from now with Classic Empire and Senior Investment confirmed as probable starters.  There’s no chance we’ll see Always Dreaming in the Belmont and Cloud Computing is questionable.  This year’s Belmont Stakes will shape up to be a great handicapping challenge race with hopefully a large and contentious field coming into formation.

In the meantime, summer racing across the nation is getting into full swing this Memorial Day Weekend with plenty of Stakes action to keep us occupied between now and then.

Until next weekend…Go fast and win!

Mike
