Kentucky Downs Juvenile Sprint

Tragically, Sovereign Impact came in on a surging Chattel mid-stretch causing that one to fall and subsequently the horse had to be euthanized.  The winner and Screener “A” horse, Moonlight Romance was in the clear and went on to win, convincingly. The Super Screener top value/long shot pair of Cardinal Coach Mac and Faraway Kitten were both affected by the fallen horse with the latter horse getting the worst of it. This was a prep race for the newly formed Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint race.

It was Insta Erma, the CA-based horse that shipped into Kentucky to run on Kentucky Derby day that prevailed in a handy come-from-behind win. Mark Casse’s charge, Valadorna, finished a good second in her turf debut.  The Super Screener Top Win pick, Pas de Soucis was in good position early but for whatever reason, she shuffled back to near last at the half. When she was ready to make her big run she was stymied behind a wall of horses mid-stretch.  She ran on with energy once free but it was too late. Very frustrating to watch that ride as there was plenty of horse. Fortunately, we had the winner Insta Erma in the suggested Pick 4 tickets.

The Super Screener’s top win pick, Noted and Quoted, was scratched from this race that moved up both Con Te Partiro and Originator, neither of which did much in this race other than some late interest shown by the former filly.  Ruby Notion fought gamely to prevail over a determined Lull and she kept us alive in the Pick 4

Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint (G3)

This race, which was originally a 12-horse field, was reduced to a compact field of 8 contestants via scratches.  That reduced the prices on all players, including our Top Long Shot pick, Proforma, who won the race as predicted but at odds of just over 7-1.  A win is a win and we’ll take it.

“The Super Screener landed on an extraordinary top candidate for the win spot in the 20-1 Top Long Shot pick, #2 Proforma. This horse was the Super Screener Top Win pick in that last race and he came on like a freight train late but needed more ground.  He gets it here as 6 to 6.5 furlongs is his perfect distance zone and he gets enough pace pressure to close into with that strong late turn of foot.  Prime long shot play to be used up and down your Exotic wagers.”

Vici would have had to improve by a half length for the Superfecta ticket to cash. The suggested Trifecta ticket hit with Proforma on top and paid nearly $200 for the $36 ticket.

Proforma’s victory at 7-1 kept us alive to Oscar Nominated and Arklow in the leg of the Pick 4.

Kentucky Turf Cup (G3)

Arklow, a Super Screener “A” horse, closed with determination to take the top prize and hold off an equally game, Bigger Picture.  Both of these horses were highly favored by the Super Screener:

Note that Mike Maker had four horses entered in this race and they finished 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.

With that win by Arklow at 6-1, the following Super Screener suggested Pick 4 ticket hit for a great payoff of over $2,700.

Churchill Downs is back in action with a stakes-loaded Saturday card and Woodbine and Laurel will also share in the stakes spotlight so plenty of fall racing action to take advantage of.

Until next weekend, Go Fast and Win! Go Bears!
