G1 Alabama

The Super Screener top value play, Elate, came through in a big way destroying this field by more than 5 lengths at attractive odds of 4-1.  This filly took advantage of the projected pressured pace that, indeed, did materialize which makes the Super Screener’s top long shot bomber pick, It Tiz Well’s, effort looks even more impressive.  She cut super brisk fractions throughout but held on with tenacity to 2nd place as the second longest shot on the board.  Here’s what the Super Screener had to say about this pair:

Something went wrong with our top win choice, Unchained Melody, who had to be pulled up mid race and then vanned off.

The Super Screener top board hitter pick, Salty, obliged with a fast closing 3rd.

The Super Screener suggested Trifecta wager clicked for over $450!

G2 Del Mar Handicap

The Super Screener top win pick in the field of 13, Hunt, delivered as projected for a big win at odds of 7-2.  Ashleyluvssugar came up really flat in this race which may signal, l as we wrote about her, that she may be losing a step or two at this point in her career which is why the Super Screener was more bullish on Hunt.  Here’s what the Super Screener had to say about Hunt:

“The Super Screener gives the win nod to #11 Hunt despite the poor draw as added blinkers was the right move by top turf stakes trainer, Phil D’Amato.  He had to wait for room in mid stretch but once he found an opening, he shot through and won with plenty in reserve foreshadowing that the added ground here would be no problem.  More upside from this one to come.”

The suggested Super Screener $12 Hunt over Itsinthepost Exacta wager cashed for $258.

G1 Pacific Classic

While the G1 Pacific Classic came up uncharacteristically compact, it had plenty of intrigue going for it as the question remained as to whether Arrogate would return to the dominance he had shown in winning the G1 World Cup, Pegasus, BC Classic and Travers Stakes.  The Super Screener remained doubtful and selected Baffert’s “other horse” and up and comer, Collected, as the top win choice.  In the end, he went wire-to-wire cutting impressive fractions and held off stablemate, Arrogate, to lead the Super Screener’s cold Exacta pick of Collected over Arrogate.  This was rated as a “1” from a value perspective when it came to wagering on the race, but here is what we had to say about Collected who we felt would have a distinct pace advantage in this race.

The Super Screener top long shot pick, Curlin Road, completed the Superfecta at nearly 30-1.

G1 Del Mar Oaks

The Super Screener’s most anticipated race of the day came up a bit chalky in the end as none of the double digit odds horses managed to hit the Superfecta including the Screener’s top long shot pick, Storm the Hill, who finished mid pack at 64-1 outrunning all other 20-1+ long shots.  Nonetheless, the Super Screener’s Top Value and Top Board Hitter picks finished 1-2 with both taking advantage of the pressured pace as they each came from the back of the field to complete the Exacta.  This is what the Super Screener projected for this pair:

“#10 Dream Dancing ships in from New York along with her jockey, Julien LeParoux after facing so much better in her last 4 races.  Will take back and then make one big run passing a ton of tiring horses in the stretch.  Possesses the best late turn of foot of any other filly in the race which means she’ll really appreciate the Del Mar turf course.  Top player!”

“#12 Beau Recall competed last out in what may be the best 3 year-old fillies G1 Stakes race of the year and did well enough to finish mid-pack after enduring a wide trip.  The accomplished Chad Brown filly, New Money Honey, won that race and three strong Euro shippers completed the rest of the Superfecta.  She returns here to face so much easier. Possesses the perfect energy distribution profile for this pace and distance.  Very reliable board hitter with value to boot.”

The Super Screener suggested Exacta and Trifecta wagers hit for over $600 despite the lack of bigger odds in the Exacta.

Arlington Park had their day in the sun with the Arlington Million card last weekend, and Del Mar took center stage with the Pacific Classic Saturday line up this weekend.  We now head into Saratoga’s biggest day of the meet featuring the G1 Travers Stakes and a line up of several Graded Stakes races.  Summer racing is at its peak right now and it doesn’t get any better than this.

Until next weekend…Go fast and win!
